M&M Challenge

One day, me and my dad were at Dollar Tree since we were shopping, and when he was checking out, I was looking at an M&M bag and saw that if you buy one and get an all-brown bag, you could win $100,000! So I said," Dad, can I get one so I can win the contest?" He said " No, not today, but you can with your own money." So my mom gave me a challenge, and said I could buy a bag of M&Ms each week, and see if it was something worth spending my cash on. So, today(9-8-12)I bought some M&Ms but failed. I'll try again next time!

High-Ranking Dreams

When I grow up, I want to be in the U.S. Army.I want to serve my country, and protect its people. I also want to get stronger, so I can help my comrades during war. I want to earn high-ranking  badges and medals. I also think that the uniforms look nice. But most of all, I just want to be a hero.

Family Reunion

Two weeks ago, my family went to a family reunion for my mom's side of the family. It was nice to catch up with everyone, and have a good time too. To get there, we started traveling at 10:00 pm, so we could get there earlier ( we went to South Carolina ), since it was going to be a long trip.
The next day, we went to our hotel, settled in, and went for a swim in the pool ( my dad was sleeping at the time, since he was driving all through the night ). We also visited my mom's cousin's house.
The following day, we went to a store that sold pie, cider, candy, and other stuff, and visited the beach. We went to my great-grandpa's house, had some food, watched TV, and played outside.
On the third day the whole family went to Hibachi, which is a chinese buffet, and a park near the Savannah River called Savannah Rapids Park. All of these places were in Augusta, Georgia.
For the final day, the family met at a place called The American Legion Hut. We had a talent show, and a hat contest.
On Sunday, everyone went home, but we went to church, and to the house of some friends of ours, who lived in South Carolina. The day after that, we left. I had a great time at the reunion.

Special Edition:They're Back!

They're back! 6 years ago, my Godfamily (the Villegas family) moved to California, and 2 years later, we visited them and caught up with each other's family lives. But this year, they moved back! I am so excited to play with their daughter, Isabel, and their son, little Benjamin! This year, and the years to come, our families will have good times together!

It's Only Your First Time

When I was at a summer camp for Boy Scouts, I was taking 5 of merit badges ( which is a lot for a kid like me to be doing) and of course I didn't get them all done. But I didn't get into a fit about it, because, hey, it was my first time doing it, so it's okay that I didn't get them all. But I still had a fun time with my friends around camp.

The Big Finale

The Tae Kwon Do camp that I'm taking is going well, and we are going to have a big show to show people our skills. I am very excited, because I will be able to show how to break a board. I will be able to practice at home, when the camp is over. Guess what? I even challenged my brother and my friend Darryl to race to black belt. I think I will be a person with great TKD skills when this camp is over.

Conference, then Review-Whew!

Yesterday I had a Scoutmaster conference, then a board of review. I was so nervous. I was going to have a board of review, but I didn't have a Scoutmaster Conference. So my board of review was cancelled. So, when my Conference was over, I had my board of review. At that point, I would have walked out of the room, I was so nervous. (they asked a lot of questions) But it was worth it, since I advanced to the next rank(Tenderfoot).

Captivation

When I watched the movie "Captivated," I was amazed how bad today's media and technology can be. Did you know that people actually spend more time watching TV than going to the bathroom? I was very moved by how people not only push the limits of media use, but actally ruin their minds and imaginations. Now I'm sure that I know why my mom and dad limit my TV use, why we don't have cable, and why we don't have any video games or stuff like that. I hope everyone who watches "Captivated" is moved and touched like I was.

Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii-Yaa!

I am very excited, because I am going to a karate camp at the YMCA. When my mom told me about it, the camp sparked my interest, because I have always wanted to do karate. I am also excited because my brother and my friend Darryl are coming, too. The camp is July 9th through the 13th. It is going to have scripture from the Bible, which makes the camp Christian-Friendly. I can't wait to go to Karate camp and have fun!

Think, write, and think again

Have you ever tried to go to sleep, but ended up thinking about a lot of things? That's what happened to me a lot. I would go to bed, and 30 or 40 minutes later, I would still be awake, just thinking. I would take a pill  to help me sleep, but with no luck. So I asked my mom to help me find a solution, and she said," Maybe you could try writing down your thoughts." So I started to write down my thoughts, and now I don't need to write them down anymore, because I don't have as many thoughts in my head when I sleep.

God still sees us

Last Thursday, Blaise, Dad, and I were going to The Salvation Army to drop off some old mattresses. But we had a problem. In the van, we had to stow away the back and middle row seats so we could put the mattresses in the van. That left just the two front seats. Dad sat in the driver's seat. Blaise sat in the passenger's seat, and I laid down in the back, squished by the mattresses. I was reminded that God still saw me, even though I was hidden by mattresses and shaded windows. Luckily, we didn't get caught and arrived safely. My lesson learned that day was that God sees us no matter what.
